Water Damage

Dealing with Water Damage to Your Home

Cleaning up water is essential, but because water has a tendency to soak into various absorbent surfaces, moisture removal doesn’t end with dry floors. In addition to the water damage you may see, water will have migrated into the floors, walls and ceilings. Those areas need to be cleaned, dried and sanitized to prevent secondary damages such as structural damage, mold colonization, foul odors, or wood decay (dry rot). There are three essential pieces of equipment typically used by All New Again® on every Water Damage Restoration project: Air Mover, Dehumidifier and Air Filtration Device.

What is an Air Mover and what does it do?

Air Movers are heavy duty industrial fans used to speed up and facilitate the drying process during Damage Restoration. All New Again® has proprietary designed, colored and labeled Air Movers. Our Air Movers work at variable speeds and at different angels so they can be directed toward the floor, walls or ceiling increasing efficiency and decreasing drying time. Air Movers are essential in Damage Restoration. Their main purpose is to assist with removing moisture from building materials. An Air Mover acts as an industrial-powered blower that briskly removes moisture from the surface which becomes airborne. Once airborne, an All New Again® Dehumidifier can extract that moisture from the air.

What is a Dehumidifier and what does it do?

Dehumidifiers quickly and efficiently extract moisture from the air and water from building materials during Damage Restoration. All New Again® has proprietary designed, colored and labeled Dehumidifiers. Our Dehumidifiers are compact but powerful low-grain refrigerant (LGR) Dehumidifiers. LGR Dehumidifiers add an extra step to the dehumidifying process that results in double cooling, which in turn leads to lower air temperature in the moisture-filled space, which helps the dehumidifier remove more moisture from the air that passes through it. Dehumidifiers assist in minimizing secondary damages such as structural damage, odors, the growth of mold and dust mites. Dehumidifiers are key for drying and restoring your environment after water damage.

What is an Air Filtration Device and what does it do?

Air Filtration Devices, commonly referred to as an “Air Scrubber”, is a portable Air Filtration Device. It draws in air from the surrounding environment and passes it through two pre-filters and a primary HEPA filter. These filters efficiently capture airborne particles to help improve indoor air quality. All New Again® has proprietary designed, colored and labeled Air Scrubbers. Our Air Scrubbers are compact and achieve true HEPA filtration efficiency of 99.97%. Damage Restoration will generate significant amounts of particulates and odiferous (smelly) gases. These contaminants are a direct result of the damage itself, as well as the necessary process of treating and cleaning damaged materials. This includes not only damage in the occupied space, but also contaminants in wall or ceiling cavities that may be disturbed and unknowingly introduced into the occupied space. These contaminants can settle on flooring, upholstery, furnishings, and be drawn into the HVAC system.

An Air Scrubber is the most important Piece of Equipment and should be used on Every Damage Restoration Project!

One of the most practical and necessary places to use an Air Scrubber is on every Water Damage restoration job. The immense amount of airflow necessary for the evaporation of moisture from flooring, drywall and other damaged materials also stirs up a vast amount of debris into the air from other flooring, carpet, furniture, and ductwork. These airborne particles can range from allergens normally found indoors (like pet dander) to potentially hazardous contaminants that may be a result of Water Damage (like mold spores). All New Again® utilizes Air Scrubbers during Water Damage Restoration to drastically reduce the number of these airborne particles and improve the quality of indoor air. Air Scrubbers are a necessity in any environment where dust is imminent during Water Damage Restoration. Dust has been deemed an airborne contaminant by the CDC and can cause adverse health effects. Our customers that have compromised immune systems, respiratory issues , or allergic reactions to dust will be pleased to know that your health and safety is All New Again’s® absolute priority and Air Scrubbers will be utilized on all Damage Restoration projects.
